Shaky Showrunners

You may know us by a lot of different names - moderates, secret cabal, surrender monkeys, fi-core advocates or, our favorite, the shaky showrunners...

The truth is - we are you.  Concerned writers.

We are a group of long-time WGA members who've worked in features and television at all levels, who are concerned about not only the future of our Guild, but also the future of our business, and EVERYONE who works in it -- above and below the line.

We're at a critical moment in time, perhaps the most important opportunity we've all had since the strike began.  There is a chance for our Leadership and the Negotiating Committee to close a deal in a very short time.

Are there aspects of the deal we wish were more favorable for our membership?  Yes. Does the DGA template need to be tweaked to make it more writer-specific?  Of course. Is it a compromise from our ask?  Yes.  But isn't every deal?  The fact that an extensive, forward thinking, comprehensive 3 year template is in place is good for the WGA, and potentially for SAG as well.

And pragmatically, it's the only game in town.

We were told by our Leadership that we would strike until we got a fair deal. We think this deal is fair. Especially in light of the further damage that a prolonged strike would inflict on our industry.

The truth is, we're not shaky at all.  We're resolute.

Let's get a fair deal closed and get the town back to work.
